Our Commitment
At Rural & Business Specialists Ltd (R&BS), we believe that the web should be accessible to anyone and everyone. We are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities, continually improving the user experience for all our visitors, and applying relevant accessibility standards to guarantee equal access to our services, information, and mortgage calculators.
Going Beyond Legal Requirements
As a private sector business operating in the UK, Rural & Business Specialists Ltd is not legally bound by the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which strictly mandate compliance for government and public sector websites.
However, we believe that inclusive design is simply the right thing to do. Therefore, we voluntarily hold our website to a higher standard than is legally required of us, proactively working towards the latest international web accessibility benchmarks.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
The R&BS website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA.
Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively auditing and working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website to meet all Level AA guidelines of the current 2.2 specification.
Measures to Support Accessibility
R&BS takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of our website:
- Integrating accessibility checks into our digital practices.
- Ensuring all text uses readable fonts and maintains exceptionally strong color contrast. We have successfully audited and updated our site’s design so that all text color contrast and sizing fully conform to the rigorous WCAG 2.2 Level AAA standards.
- Structuring our website logically with clear headings to assist screen readers and keyboard navigation.
- Ensuring our interactive tools, such as the Agricultural Mortgage Calculator and Cash Flow templates, are easily navigable.
- Ensuring clickable targets (like buttons, links, and form fields) are appropriately sized and spaced to accommodate users with motor impairments.
